CEO Jerry Yang Retires from Yahoo!

Yahoo Inc. shares shot up 11 percent Tuesday as investors took the resignation of CEO Jerry Yang to mean Microsoft Corp. is more likely to make another bid for the ailing Internet company.

Yang’s emotional attachment to the company he co-founded in 1995 is one of the reasons he balked at a $47.5 billion takeover offer from Microsoft six months ago. The same devotion finally led Yang to conclude he should step aside as chief executive, as the company seeks to bolster its depressed stock price and sagging earnings in an economic downturn that might prove even more wrenching than the dot-com bust of eight years ago.

Website Evaluation

I found this tool when I was checking the stats of one of my sites. I was a bit insulted that they only valued the site at $10 (that’s the cost of a domain!), so I decided to check on a few more sites. There are some interesting results. Another site it says that it is worth $318 with the potential to be worth more.

Potential: $3,405
Important Note:
It seems that this website has a lot of pages, however, it does not get traffic in relation to those number of pages otherwise, this website could be worth as much as $3,405.

Interesting the site that they valued at $10 had a totally different note:

Potential: $178
Important Note:
It seems that this website has a lot of traffic, but not alot of web recognition. This probably means that it get a lot of direct traffic (bookmarks). This can be good. It may also indicate that all traffic is paid for. In such a case, we would estimate this website real worth to be no more than $10.

It is an article submission site, so it gets plenty of real traffic!

Maximum Exposure

Posted under General Tips by MoneyTalk on Sunday 9 November 2008 at 12:47 am

Advertising had long since been a major determinant of a business’ success.  This would include the presentation of the product/service to the consumers.  What really matters is
how it is presented to the target market to be able to capture it.

Whatever the package, the ad media also plays a great role in determining the success of the product or service awareness. What may be its advantages over other proven medium like the best-selling TV ads?

Advantages

1. Low Cost

Eventhough the Internet ad might be viewed as “classy” or far-reaching, as compared to other medium, this is far cheaper than most.  Internet Ad Packages are offered for as low as $29.99 for a one-month run-time period.

2. Capture market

Should your product/service aim to cater to the younger generation or the corporate-oriented ones, Internet ad would be best since they would always be “hooked-up” into the net surfing sites that might have a link to your very own. Result, a great number of “hits” on your site!

2. Hassle free

All you would ever really need is a PC (and some knowledge and bright ideas in forming your site) wherein you could open your site, search for the best Internet Ad package and check/update the status of your ad.  You may actually never have to leave your home to advertise!

3. Updated ads

Unlike the TV ads that need to be updated on a regular basis, Internet ads may run for quite some time without the need for change.  If so, change to the site is very minimal and may easily be done  at home.

Disadvantages

1. Scope
Limited market may be captured if one would solely use the Internet Ad for advertising.
Although most people now are into the use of technology, i.e. surfing the Internet, still the majority of the average consumers still rely on the old form of advertising as a means of gathering information about certain products or services.

2. Additional costs

If you should enlist the help of another professional or company to produce a site for your
product or service, this would entail additional costs on the part of the entrepreneur.  Given the list of advantages and disadvantages about low-coast Internet Ad, an entrepreneur may now weigh in its applicability to his/her product or service.
